SARNIA MOST SELFISH FAMILY
Marie Snopek and Ilona Vecere Fermin
For immediate
release Oct 30 2015
A group of poverty and
mental health advocates have voted Ilona Vecere Fermin and Marie Snopek
of Lakeshore Rd as the most selfish family in Sarnia.
Marie Snopek is the Curator of “40 Years of Jack Nichols (1941-1981)
The Sarnia Public Library and Art Gallery.”
Ilona Vecere Fermin is her daughter a school teacher at
Northern Collegiate Institute & Vocational School.
Marie
Snopek is the widow of the late Dr. Anthony Snopek a millionaire who
left behind a son with multiple barriers, barriers that keep
him from gaining any
employment and the son is living on a $650 per month
government issued
cheque. The government has classified the son as a “Person with
Persistent Multiple Barriers” this classification is only given to
people that don’t abuse drugs and don’t have a criminal record.
Mental health advocate John Velt states:
“We
tried explaining the son’s dire situation to the stepmother Marie
Snopek. All we got in return is her daughter (her agent) calling the
police on us. In my 20 + years of advocating on behalf of “the poor
with mental issues” I have never encountered
a more uncaring or selfish family.”
The son states:
“My father Dr.
Snopek knew all his life about my issues that keep me from living a
normal life. My stepmother knew about my issues shortly after she met
me. It was assumed that they both were ashamed of me and that’s why I
had no support from them from the age of twelve. It was also assumed
that after my father’s death some funds would have been left for me to
live on. Maybe there were, it’s possible that my stepmother Marie
Snopek and my stepsister Ilona Vecere Fermin are keeping my dad’s will
away from me."
Advocate John Velt adds:
"We don’t have many
options left. As you know a person can’t survive on a government issued
$650 per month cheque. The son’s elderly relatives from his natural
mother’s side help the son as they can but once they die the son will
be on the street. We want to prevent that. The son tried to initiate
talks with his late father’s church St.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sarnia with the Reverend
Lloyd Murdock as a go between mediator but that didn't go
anywhere.
We
are in talks with the government, with other NGOs and with the media.
Our only course of action may be to initiate a civil suit against Marie
Snopek and the late Dr Snopek estate."
